Identity can be very complex and can be marked by many different things, such as your music preference, friends, the way you fix your hair, your job, and a lot of other things. Some attributes about you can mean different things to different people based on their identity, like the type of the your name. Some people choose to listen to heavy metal and are avoided by others because they view it as 'demonic music'. Another way identities are created are through the media. People label you as a "weirdo" or say you're "uncool" if you don't fit into the social norm that the media displays. Like those that tease the overweight girl because she doesn't fit the super skinny model look that you see everywhere (TV, magazines, billboards); or the dude that shows emotion is automatically labeled as 'queer'.
